2007 Run To Romano
The Tamarineh Society for Community Development and Support presents: the first annual Run to Romano Village, in Tonkolili District, Yoni Chiefdom, Sierra Leone!
Children of Alberta Canada Primary School in Romano Village, Sierra Leone learn as best they can in classes of 80+, with no clean water and teachers who are paid only $120.00 a month. Even with minimal resources and under difficult conditions, amazing progress has been made by the people of the surrounding villages because they believe people in Canada care about them. This gives them hope to work harder to succeed and overcome the obstacles that years of civil war have imposed on their lives.
You can help the Tamarineh Society pay teacher salaries and purchase school supplies for the children of Sierra Leone in our first annual "Run to Romano" fundraiser!
If 500 people each walk, run, swim, dance or skateboard 20 kilometers and get 3-5 sponsors for their efforts, we can run the 9916 kilometer distance from Edmonton to Romano Village in Sierra Leone. Let's run together to work for education of children in our global village! Between October 1 and October 30 you can sign up to run or to sponsor a runner right on this website. It's that easy - no time to talk, gotta' run to Romano!
