Alberta Canada ends sports meet

History was made on Wednesday and Thursday 25-26 April 2007, when two newly established schools – the Alberta Canada Primary and Junior Secondary Schools – organized their sports at Romano Town in the Yoni Chiefdom, Tonkolili district.

Almost all the eighty towns and villages, including other educational institutions in that chiefdom, were in attendance.

Thomas Sorrell Kamara, the Principal of the Alberta Canada JSS, and the Headmistress of the Primary School, Lucy Jina Sovula, told journalists at the occasion that the schools were established 1 September 2005 and 1 October 2007 respectively, and that they are doing extremely well but that they need more help.

The proprietress of the schools, Mrs. Memunatu Dura Kamara, resides in Canada but hails from Romano Town in that chiefdom.

At the end of the sports meet, the following prizes were awarded: 1st place Le50,000; 2nd 30,000; 3rd 15,000; and 4th 10,000.
